Rest day in Bedoin

It was a relief to start the day relaxed and without the usual well practised bike trip routine. Breakfast was a leisurely graze of coffee and croissants without the need to feed up the legs. I then had a massage by Roger who was a TdF soigneur and apparently a mate of Chris Boardman. He quickly found all of the knotted muscles in my legs and we agreed that my back is a bit of a mess as he inflicted a very well targeted thumping. Apparently I should be having regular massages which I have been told before and really need to get organised. Meanwhile Bob has had the bike equivalent of a rest day massage so hopefully we will both be firing on all cylinders tomorrow.
Neil was also worked on by Roger and then we strolled into Bedoin to find carbohydrates.

Bedoin is essentially a village that caters for cyclists so  there are bike shops selling ‘I climbed Mont Ventoux’ merchandise and lots of carb heavy restaurants.
Back at the relaxing hotel, I read my book under the pine trees briefly before rest day nap time.

It was a delightful, long nap!
Just before dinner, this rainbow appeared over Mont Ventoux, hopefully a good omen for the rather daunting day to come on the bike tomorrow.

My tummy is full, muscles are rested, Bob is serviced and my bike kit is beautifully clean thanks to Megan and Dylan. Ready for the tough but hopefully just as fabulous 2nd half of the trip...
