Day 2 Ceret to Duilhac
Today was one of those days on a bike that I dream about - stunning scenery, quiet roads, sunshine and challenging but not horrendous climbs.
Ceret felt like it was back to school/work this morning and generally this part of France feels much more business as usual than Spain, with much less mask wearing.

The views were spectacular as we meandered up and down for 55 miles.

This is definitely a wine region with vines laden with grapes ready for picking.

There was an amazing smell coming from this wine factory, reminding me of what I’m missing in my current alcohol free, mountain climbing mode!
This evening’s hotel is an old building directly below Peyrepertuse castle, a Cathar fortress perched on a 1000m cliff with spectacular views (we drove up there!)

Bob the bike was in his element..

I didn’t sleep particularly well as the hotel seemed to have spared every expense on sound proofing and I could hear every creak, cough and snore in the building. I was therefore a bit tired at the start but the climbing soon warmed up the legs and I settled into happy pedalling.
